Kanagawa

Capturing ocean views, Kanagawa embodies the identity of contemporary design.

The three story, off-form concrete, open plan family residence is surrounded by low height suspended planters framing views to the east and west and softening the edge of the concrete spaces. Each level connects via a suspended timber stair housed within a column of filtered natural light.

The first floor living captures ocean views but retains it’s external connection by incorporating internal planters, fire pit and stacking glass doors to a suspended external pool beyond. The fire pit being the centre piece of the house sits within a double height space framed by bedrooms above and capped with an oculus encouraging natural light into the heart of the space.
