Liam Lee Debuts Upholstery Collection With HBF Textiles

Published on

New York artist Liam Lee captures the evanescent quality of his original tapestries and works on paper in Paint by Numbers, his upholstery textile debut in collaboration with HBF Textiles. Impasto, a poly-blend velvet, conjures thickly applied paint by way of an undulating texture that seems to catch and throw light. The hand-selected bouclé yarns of Pointillist, a nubby polypropylene-acrylic, replicate the hazy, dotty effect of its titular painting style. Gridwork’s canvaslike weave structure communicates a handcrafted quality—but is in fact highly robust, rendered of 95 percent recycled polyester. And Magic Eye, which is also suitable for wall paneling, has a pattern that nods to the namesake books’ optical illusions as well as pixelated computer art. hbftextiles.com
