This Sculptural Chair Takes A takes Cue From Sailing Equipment

Published on

In high-use commercial interiors such as airport lounges, upholstery is typically the first surface to wear out, often leading to entire pieces being discarded even when the bones of the structure remain intact. Boss senior designer Aaron Clarkson addresses this issue head-on with Lucy, a sculptural chair with a frame of FSC-certified plywood and steel whose cover can be refreshed on-site. Inspired by sailing equipment, the fitted upholstery secures via a drawstringlike bungee-cord tension system that cinches beneath the Bio-Pur foam-padded seat, letting the fabric be removed and replaced with nonchalant ease. bossdesign.com
