La Pedrera

UPAstudio designed and built 1.5 hectares of landscape for the Cola de Lagarto clubhouse, called La Pedrera. The intention was to regenerate the endemic forest, by collecting and reproducing in a nursery, conserving, transplanting the vegetation, and implementing a suitable landscaping, but avoiding dependence on irrigation or invasiveness.

The project aligned with technical and strategic solutions: the designers regenerated forests affected by previous construction, stabilized slopes with stone retaining walls, using groundcover vegetation to mitigate erosion, gravel to reduce maintenance and increase permeability, trees to shade walkways and parking lots, grasslands to create low-maintenance clear areas, shrubs and palms in shaded areas, and cactus accents in sunny areas in front of buildings.

The street facade welcomes you with a dynamic interplay of mounds crowned with cactus accents. They placed colossal stones excavated during the development to create a recurring theme.

At the center of La Pedrera, they placed three Ceiba trees amid a reflecting pool of water, cascading down the entrance steps. These trees accompany the users at the entrance, along with yucca and pitahaya plants hanging from the perimeter of the roof garden.
