The clients for this luxury London Roof Terrace were having their apartment renovated, wanting their terrace to be designed into a beautiful adjoining space that would reflect the high quality of the interior finish. Aralia made sure our roof terrace design took reference from the contemporary and elegant interior, adding a light carpet of porcelain tiles that would complement the interior and provide a seamless link from inside to outside. Views from the kitchen were also carefully considered, with Aralia making sure the design for the terrace utilized the views out across London and of the adjacent church tower.
As the clients live in Italy for several weeks at a time, at regular intervals, the terrace would need to require minimal maintenance. Aralia therefore included automated garden irrigation throughout the planting schemes, as well as a green wall, used to help soften the stark white façade of the building and to create a stunning focal feature. Aralia also wanted to borrow from the clients Italian home, so included a water feature reminiscent of the clients garden in Italy – the sound of trickling water further adding to the ambience of this roof terrace. Herb species such as Thyme & Jasmine were included to further enhance the Mediterranean feel, as well as to provide fragrance in the roof terrace. A mix of evergreen and herbaceous planters provide all round structure with seasonal interest, beautifully enhanced with an innovative outdoor lighting scheme.
