Appreciation towards Fran Silvestre Arquitectos for providing the following description:
Is it possible to place a single component on a hillside and build a house there?
Can we build on this hillside by placing a single element upon it?

As a response to this problem, the project was conceived as a thin slab only 15 centimeters thick. It folds along the natural slope of the terrain while responding to the constraints of planning regulations.
In response to this question, the project is conceived as a very thin plane, just 15 centimeters thick, which folds along the natural slope of the terrain while simultaneously responding to the constraints of the regulations.

Profiles organize functions into a descending sequence. Starting from the entrance level, the garage leads to the living space, swimming pool, and finally the bedroom area. Each space occupies a clear position on the slope, allowing the house to follow the natural topography.
The section organizes the program as a descending sequence. From the access level, the garage leads to the living areas, the swimming pool and, finally, the sleeping quarters. Each of these spaces occupies a precise position on the slope, allowing the house to follow the natural topography.

Folding also allows various parts of the house to be oriented differently to find the best conditions the site has to offer, thus expanding both frontal and side views. Side views open the house towards the sea, framing the sea view between Clot d’en Llaudís and Punta del Puig Negre, so that one is always aware of the horizon as one walks through the house.
The fold also allows each part of the house to adopt a different orientation, seeking the best conditions offered by the site. Both frontal and lateral views are therefore enhanced. This lateral perspective opens the house towards the sea, framed between Clot d’en Llaudís and Punta del Puig Negre, allowing the horizon to remain continuously present as one moves through the house.

Architecture is understood as a device that captures the surrounding landscape. The thin panels extend outward to form sun-shading spaces; in these transition areas, the indoors and outdoors seem to be part of the same room. The house attempts to broaden the view and allow the surrounding environment to enter daily life from different viewing angles.
The architecture is understood as a mechanism capable of capturing the surrounding landscape. The thin plane extends to create areas sheltered from the sun, intermediate spaces where interior and exterior seem to become part of the same room. The house seeks to broaden the field of vision and make the surroundings present from different viewpoints.

Viewed from down the slope, the building weakens its own presence in order to retain people’s overall perception of the hillside. Experienced from within, it becomes a series of spaces open to the horizon.
Seen from below, the piece reduces its presence in order to preserve the perception of the hillside. From within, however, it becomes a succession of spaces opening towards the horizon.

A continuous element that folds to simultaneously resolve structure, function, shading and its relationship to the terrain. It forms a sheltered place to look out, move through and enjoy Ibiza life.
A single piece that folds to resolve structure, programme, shade and its relationship with the terrain. A sheltered place from which to look out, move through and enjoy the island of Ibiza.
