Bronnitsy Central Square is the gateway to the town of Bronnitsy, the first public space encountered by residents and visitors arriving at the central bus station. It is a place where the history of the town and its inhabitants is reflected, a memorial and spiritual center. The redevelopment project reimagines this territory as a contemporary urban public landscape while preserving its historical and symbolic significance.
The architectural and spatial design of the square, as well as its landscape elements, is based on the idea of local identity and visual references connected to the history of Bronnitsy. The key small architectural forms were custom-designed specifically for the project, including the “Swing Arches” and the “Horseshoe” art installation. Steel was used as the primary structural and finishing material.
The architectural design of the “Swing Arches” is inspired by the characteristic arches of the historic 19th-century cavalry barracks. The children’s playground and recreation areas are equipped with play equipment designed in accordance with contemporary safety standards. Other public realm elements, including waste bins, park furniture, and bicycle parking, were selected to complement the overall architectural language of the project.
A comprehensive lighting system was developed for public spaces, pathways, small architectural forms, the chapel, and monuments and memorials using different types of lighting fixtures and projectors. Benches and waste bins were carefully arranged according to anticipated pedestrian flows and patterns of use.
An informational stand featuring a historical retrospective of Bronnitsy was integrated into the square, reinforcing its educational and cultural role.
