The elegant seaside hotel development offers guests a journey that intertwines the creation of a picturesque mangrove forest with the natural beauty of the Gulf of Thailand. This unique destination is designed to echo the site’s evolution and the natural phenomena that have shaped it, creating an experience that is both visually stunning and deeply connected to the land’s history.
The Bayphere Hotel Pattaya exemplifies this design ethos through its multifaceted landscape. The hotel features a ground-floor garden, a rooftop pool, and an elevated boardwalk that meanders through the mangrove forest, seamlessly linking to Jomtien Beach. This design not only showcases the area’s breathtaking beauty but also its environmental functionality.
Historically, inhabitants planted bamboo and mangrove sticks into the ground, forming oval structures that allowed sediment layers to build up from fluctuating sea waters, nurturing lush mangrove forests. Inspired by this natural reclamation, the hotel’s landscape design reflects a narrative journey through time, capturing the essence of the site’s transformation.
The landscape program features a rooftop pool area with panoramic sea views, a ground-floor lobby with an open-air design, a leisure seating pod featuring a waterfall and a pond, and a wall that creates dynamic spatial layers. Flowing patterns on the ground level mimic the sea’s ebb and flow, with hardscape elements, cascading water, and a jacuzzi representing the beach and sea movement. The rooftop pool offers expansive views of the open sea, while the reflecting pond symbolizes the river’s journey from higher terrain to the ocean.
Overall, the landscape design elegantly articulates a gradual changing of space, a seamless composition from architecture to interior to landscape, and an experiential story of the site’s ecological processes and history of reclamation.
