Via del Respiro

Located in Cavallino-Treporti, along the northern edge of the Venetian Lagoon, the Pordelio waterfront cycle and pedestrian path is part of the Blue Way, a network of slow-mobility routes connecting the lagoon landscapes and settlements.

The project introduces a continuous linear route running alongside Via Pordelio, extending for seven kilometres, including a five-kilometre cantilevered section overlooking the lagoon. Conceived as a lightweight infrastructure, the intervention creates a dedicated space for pedestrians and cyclists while establishing a direct relationship with the surrounding landscape.

More than a mobility corridor, the path is designed as a linear public space unfolding along the shifting edge between land and water. Viewpoints, resting areas and small docking points punctuate the route, encouraging observation and interaction with the lagoon environment.

Designed to minimise its impact on the existing embankment and on the fragile ecosystem of the Venetian Lagoon, the cantilevered structure enhances accessibility while preserving the environmental and spatial qualities of the waterfront. Through a minimal architectural gesture, the project transforms an infrastructural edge into a place of movement, encounter and landscape observation.
