The landscape architecture project site for the LIFE Varshavskaya residential neighborhood covers 26 hectares in southern Moscow. It includes various types of residential and public buildings. The landscape design sought to meet the needs of the neighborhood’s residents and guests.

The site is essentially a city within a city and is divided into two main areas: private and public. The private area features enclosed courtyards intended exclusively for the use of neighborhood residents. Each courtyard is richly planted and has all the necessary facilities for autonomous functioning: playgrounds, sports fields, and recreation areas.

The pedestrian connection concept was inspired by the image of irregular curves, more commonly found in natural environments. The public area includes urban squares, a play center, a boulevard that runs through the neighborhood, a sports center, and a pet-walking area.

The project’s motto, “from gray to green,” inspired the idea of making the neighborhood as green as possible. A peaceful and welcoming atmosphere has been created in each courtyard, allowing for direct contact with nature.

Recreational areas with shelters and seating have been evenly distributed throughout the green courtyard. This will allow residents to enjoy the tranquility and temporarily forget the noise of the big city.

The project envisions barrier-free access, with building thresholds at landscape level; where there are differences in height, fully accessible ramps and paths are used. This helps create comfortable conditions for all users.
