The project focuses on the design of the Reception and Public Spaces within the children’s section of the newly established Onassis National Transplant Center.

These spaces are part of the new extension to the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, located on Andrea Syngrou Avenue.

The design draws significant inspiration from the brutalist character of the extension, aligning with the architectural style of the original Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center building.

However, the design also seeks to introduce a sense of playfulness, softening the rigid elements of brutalist architecture through the use of vibrant colors and soft, curved details where appropriate.

All colors utilized in the project adhere to the official guidelines of “The Orgamites” children’s educational program, which is exclusively managed by the Onassis Foundation.

The Reception area is directly connected to the main reception of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, necessitating a cohesive aesthetic between the two spaces. The flooring and lower wall cladding are crafted from Ioannina Beige Marble, with embedded brass metal grids sectioning the floor into distinct zones: reception, circulation, and waiting areas.

The public spaces outside the examination rooms feature a light design, with a focus on colored floor strips. Each color corresponds to a specific medical practice, facilitating patient navigation with minimal external guidance.
