As October arrives and the world around us begins to slow down, LEGO wanted to bring a little more colour, a little surprise, and a little more life into the city.

So, we built more than 380,000 LEGO® flower plants with our own hands, letting the flowers merge into streams and the streams into waves – flowing from the Shanghai Tank Art Center to the West Bank of Shanghai.
So we hand-built more than 380,000 LEGO® botanical blooms, turning flowers into streams, and streams into waves — flowing out from Tank Shanghai Art Center onto Shanghai’s West Bund.

The LEGO® Floral Wave is about 30 meters long and covers an area of 800 square meters, transforming the simple act of building into an urban-scale experience.

But there’s more to the experience than meets the eye. The centerpiece of the exhibition is Where Blooms Begin. Here, visitors can build their own Lego flower plant. Once the work is scanned, the physical flowers become digital flowers, joining the creations of other viewers into the evolving floral landscape.
But the experience goes beyond the spectacle. At the heart of the exhibition is Where Blooms Begin, where visitors are invited to build a LEGO botanical flower of their own. After scanning their creation, the physical flower becomes a digital bloom, joining a constantly evolving flower landscape alongside creations made by other visitors.

As more and more flowers are added, the individual creations begin to flow together, converging into a collectively created digital stream that echoes the massive physical wave outside.

The distinction between the two experiences is intentional: the more than 380,000 flowers that make up the outdoor installation were hand-assembled specifically for this exhibition; the indoor experience gives each visitor the opportunity to create their own flower and have it flow into the flow.

In addition to Flower Plants and Where Blooms Begin, the exhibition also features the Bloom Gallery, which displays 18 LEGO flower plant combinations and 18 art works created by artists and adult LEGO enthusiasts (AFOL). The LEGO® Bloom exhibition will be held at the Shanghai Tank Art Center from October 1 to 29, 2026.
Alongside the Botanical Wave and Where Blooms Begin, the exhibition features Bloom Gallery, with 18 LEGO Botanical arrangements and 18 artworks created by artists and AFOLs. LEGO® Bloom Exhibition runs from October 1–29, 2026, at Tank Shanghai Art Center.
