Aralia Landscape Architects were commissioned by Islandbridge property developers to design a landscape treatment for these luxury stables which would complement the overall development taking place on this country estate. What was once an old livery yard and a disused Dutch Barn, are being converted into a contemporary substantial home & stables, with unique features both for the house & garden. The landscape design had to consider a multitude of elements in order to make the landscape both fully functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. The landscape strategy Aralia developed responded to the current planning condition requirements, and contributed to a successful planning approval. The landscape design focused on a grand entrance to the stables, which included a beautiful avenue of Pleached trees that promoted a real sense of arrival, as well as beautiful screening for the stables themselves. Buffer planting was also incorporated, acting as a way of further screening boundaries in order to help soften the landscape edges and create a stunning visual backdrop for the stables. Working with the equestrian team, Aralia produced a landscape design which satisfied the equestrian team’s needs, as well as beautifully complimenting the architectural style of the development.
