Aralia were commissioned to design & build this London roof terrace by a major PLC, who own & manage a substantial part of Covent Garden and other central London locations. The company had relocated its head office to these newly refurbished premises and were looking for a total refurbishment of the London roof terrace to match the high standards of the contemporary interior. The roof terrace was to be used for informal internal meetings and staff breaks, as well as larger corporate entertaining events.  The space would therefore need to be both functional and flexible, offering practical space that can be easily adapted to suit various scales of use. Aralia Landscape Architects designed a contemporary roof terrace that allowed flexibility for large events, but also featured partially separated and subdivided areas that provided privacy and intimacy for smaller meetings. The company requested a cool and understated design, which Aralia provided in the form of a contemporary roof terrace that would serve as a natural extension to the office space. The roof terrace design is inspired by the surrounding skyline, including The Shard and The London Eye, and its fusion of old and new; Aralia combined and juxtaposed new contemporary London with more historic features for a fantastic celebration of British design.

Aralia worked as Landscape Architects working within a multi-disciplinary consultant team which included Architects, Structural Engineers, Cost Consultants a range of sub-contractors. Aralia were responsible for concept creation through to design detail.  Aralia also worked closely with the Architects to support the Planning application ensuring this ran smoothly through the planning process.  In addition, Aralia provided a full build service for this landscape project, taking the project from concept through to full implementation of the entire roof terrace masterplan.
