In recent years, Bürgerpark Garching has become a popular local recreation area. With a wide range of leisure activities and natural spaces, the park offers attractive opportunities for relaxation and activity for all age groups.

Project scope and construction phases
The creation of Bürgerpark was initiated by the City of Garching near Munich and is being carried out over a 15-year period. Covering around nine hectares, the project includes 25 different modules of varying sizes and functions, such as picnic areas, a calisthenics facility, and a widened stream section.
Planning and implementation
The landscape architecture office adlerolesch, based in Munich, was commissioned with the planning and implementation of Bürgerpark. The firm managed the open space design across all phases, from initial concept to final execution.

Varied recreational opportunities for all ages
Bürgerpark offers a broad spectrum of leisure activities: an adventure playground with climbing structures, slides, and swings; a calisthenics facility for fitness training; and a boule court for social interaction. Vestre seating furniture was selected as an integral design element throughout the park.
Nature experiences and relaxation along the Wiesäckerbach
One of the park’s highlights is the natural redesign of the Wiesäckerbach stream. By widening the streambed and creating a small island, the biotope character has been strengthened. A Kneipp facility with a wooden deck and seating steps invites visitors to cool off and experience water therapy.

Community projects and events
The park also serves as a venue for community projects and cultural events. Festivals and gatherings are held here regularly, enriching Garching’s social life.
Bürgerpark Garching successfully combines nature, leisure, and design in a contemporary way. With elements such as urban gardening, ecological stream restoration, and high-quality park furniture from Vestre, it stands as a strong example of sustainable urban development in public space.
