The Gadna Sports Complex project in the Kiryat Shalom neighborhood serves as an urban focal point that combines advanced sports infrastructure with a landscape development within the dense urban fabric of southern Tel Aviv. The planning concept places at its core the creation of an interface between professional sports and the public field.
The project includes comprehensive development of the football arena and its surrounding spaces:
• Construction of a football pitch based on a synthetic turf system meeting high athletic standards, ensuring durability against UV radiation and variable climatic conditions while maintaining a uniform appearance throughout the years.
• Structural design of reinforced concrete grandstands integrated into the site’s topography, providing a shaded and protected viewing experience.
• Use of durable, high-quality materials that emphasize the connection to the landscape, such as bamboo decking treated through high-temperature preservation processes, resulting in a brown–golden shade and maximum resistance to the Israeli climate.
• Landscape development works including tree relocation and preservation of existing vegetation, alongside irrigation systems and landscape construction that define the site boundaries and create a soft buffer from adjacent arterial roads (Levon Road).
The renewed Gadna Complex demonstrates how sports infrastructure can become a significant landscape anchor, serve both the professional community and neighborhood residents, while maintain high planning quality, meticulous material selection, and environmental sensitivity.
